Abstract
Development of molecular biology techniques has enabled the production of large amounts of epigenetic data. For that reason, epigenetic research is being activated in order to explain the various mechanisms of previously unexplained phonomena. Epigenetics is defined as ¡®the study of heritable changes in genome function that occur without a change in DNA sequence¡¯ and Epigenetic modification is related to normal embryonic development/differentiation, aging, cancer and various diseases. In recent years, computational epigenetics that uses bioinformatics methods has been increasing in epigenetic analyses. As a result, databases and programs for epigenetic data-analyses are being developed and epigenome mapping projects are in progress. Bioinformatics is an essential tool in such areas in order to understand unexplained biological mechanisms.
